I know these have just been released, but does anyone have any feedback on the new COMbat B1 big barrels? My son will be able to transition to a big Barrel next fall (He can use one for AB, but not recreational ball, so he only uses a small barrel now). I figured I would start researching bats now so he can start swinging a big barrel this summer/late spring.

You need to work them in for about 100 hits before they get broken in.
The B2 is breaking in really nice. Justbats is ripping people off at $240. We are selling for $200. We sell the B2 for $250. Right now, we prefer the B2, but there is nothing wrong with saving $50. Coach Tony mastandrea@mindspring.com |

I am not pushing JustBats, Combat did not have any information at the time of the post. They do now:

Does anyone have anymore feedback on the new B1 or B2 big barrels? How do they compare to the 2 ¼ B1 and B2 bats?

Since my son loves his B1 small barrel so much, I ordered a B1 big barrel. I will post updates after he hits it for a few weeks. I’m also moving him to 31/23 from a 31/21, so he may need a little adjustment time for the increased weight.

The B1 big barrel seems to be comparable to the B1 2 1/4 barrel bats. The balance is very good as my son is swinging the big barrel 31-23 oz as good as his 31-21 oz 2 ¼ bat. Performance is also good; however it is hard to get good comparison as he has been taking BP on 300 ft field. The bat has the higher pitched sound as with his B2 and newer B1 2 1/4 barrel bats…still not the crack sound of a broken in composite.
In addition to the B1 big barrel, I bought him a 31-22 oz 2009 DeMarini Voodoo on clearance. This bat swings heavier than the B1 even though it is 1 oz lighter. I have not weighed either bat to get the actual weights. My son does like the way Voodoo feels and it does perform quite well when he hits the sweet spot. I am sure both the B1 and B2 are good. I just wonder if the B2 is really any better than the B1 BB.
Wish I was rich so we could actually compare both and see for ourselves. |
