I have been coaching little league for a few years. I was always taught to make sure the weight of the bat isn't overwhelming for the child. After reading a few posts, it says that the heavier bat is better for the player's development. I'm always open to learning. Any feedback would be great.
Also my son is on the big side for 10. He is 5'3" and weighs 110 lbs with size 9 feet. He by far has the best arm in the league. His hitting was always at the top until late last summer and into the fall where he struggled. I want to insure I'm putting the best equipment in his hand. I always bought an economical bat which he always succeded with until late last year. No matter the cost which bat is the best for the money. Demarini F3, Easton Stealth, Andersen Techzilla, Catylst.
Any feedback would be great....

Well it sound as if he might be having a slump and now needs a lesson or 2 to get out of it or at the very least someone other then dad to tell him all is good. Then again as an Ex bowler new equipment always breaks slumps. Also if the bat is too small or too light it can hav ethe same effects as a bat to big!
Have you son swing some of his team mates bats to see which feels the best to him then pick one up...
DON'T go to the store and have him hold out his arm with the bat(that's crap) or even take a few cuts and have him say he likes it ( most likely it's the thrill at that point taking over)
Either way good luck and I wish him the best of luck..
I don't know who's site this but it has some killer hitting instruction on it

Lessons worked for us! Our son is 12 almost 13 for several years he was the best in his league and then had a hitting slump. This is definately hurts anyone's confidence level. He could hit home runs in practice but struck out often in the games.
A few lessons with a player who is about to drafted into the MLB from high school, "someone other that Dad", telling him he has a great swing, etc., etc. and a few tips made all the difference in the world! Anyone older that your son looks upto would help. Perhaps you know of an awesome high school player or someone who used ot play college etc.
As for the size of the bat, go to:

this is a great baseball bat sizing chart for all on the Baseball Express website under baseball bats.
Good luck!
