Need Advice 2010 High School Bat V12 or SV12?

I'm looking for a new bat for my son. He is a 10th grader...6'1 and 195lbs with a solid swing. He used the Easton V12 with good success in 2009; and I'm considering either a new V12 or the SV12-Stiff Red. The current V12 is beat-up so it's time for a new bat. Does the composite handle make a big difference? Anyone who has had experience with both bats?
