I am struggling a lot with my hitting. I was a cleanup hitter last year in majors with lots of confidence. This year in the juniors, I have done bad. I feel nervous up at the plate due to my struggles. I have hit a lot of pop-ups and even though I have a fast swing, I'm swinging a lot slower for some reason. I just can't find my old batting stance and I feel uncomfortable in the batter's box. It has gone too far and I need help. What do you suggest?

Patience, practice and more practice. This is pretty normal as you go from level to level. Keep going to practice, find time to do your own workout. Remember a new bat is not the solution, only a tool. Spend that money on a hitting coach or someone that knows what they are doing and can point you in the right direction.

Check out the hinge-bat trainer produced by MetalWood Bats. It is a bat that identifies flaws in a swing and corrects them with use. They bat is used by former MLB manager and rookie of year Jim Lefebvre to train hitters all over the world. Watch his videos on YouTube, they will give you training tips on how to correct your swing and build confidence at the plate. Good luck man!

This is appealing accustomed as you go from akin to akin. accumulate traveling to convenance, acquisition time to do your own conditioning. bethink a new bat is not the band-aid, alone a apparatus. absorb that money on a hitting drillmaster or anyone that knows what they are accomplishing and can point you in the appropriate administration

There are two types of hitting slumps:

1) You are hitting well (hard shot groundballs, line drive) but getting out which means don't change your technique because this slump will soon pass.

2) You are striking out a lot, popping up the ball. Something in your technique is wrong.

If you are hitting a lot of pop flies then my first thought would be you are not hitting the ball out in front (meaning the bat contacts the ball just ahead of your front foot) but hitting the ball behind your front foot.

I would initially think you are not weight shifting properly but have someone video your swing and play it back at real slow speed to analyze your swing. You can do this with a cheap camcorder and software such as CorelStudio.

Read the book "Lau's Laws on Hitting" to understand the proper technique of hitting.

Also compare the video of your swing to swing analysis of MLB players that have proven themselves like Rafiel Palmero.

Don't go chasing phantoms because that is a sure way of losing your confidence.
