O.K. people, I need some advise. I have an 8 year old son who will be playing 9u fed ball next year, he is 4' 8" and weighs 60 pounds. He is a very good contact hitter with good speed and typically bats leadoff. He currenly swings a 28/17 stealth 2/14" and a 29/19 Vexxum big barrell. I want to get him a new Combat, but do I get him a 2 1/4" B1, or a big barrell, either a B1 or a B2? My concern is that if the bat is to heavy he will not use it (he switches to his lighter stealth when he faces a fast pitcher). I have heard that these Combats have a balanced feel, so I think he would be o.k. swinging a BB. What do you guy's think?

I would go with a 2 1/4 ComBat B2. He may not have the strength to use the full effectiveness of the big barrell. Besides, if he is doing well with a 2 1/4, why mess with a good thing.

I agree with speedy. The 2 and a quarter barrel can be used in all leagues correct?

O.k. if I get the 2/14", then why the B2 over the B1? I was under the impression that the B1 was a hotter bat.

I read that the B2 is more durable than the B1 with the same amount of pop.

I'd go with the B2 28/18. If you want to save a bunch of money let me know, my son just moved up to a 29/19 and we have a B2 28/18 in excellent shape that I will likely put on ebay soon. It was purchased back in April so there is a ton of warranty left.

Check your IM. Personally I think a 29/19 is a little big for your son. Measure from the wrist joint to the ground with his shoes on, that will give you bat length better than the charts. I bet the 28 inch will be a better fit.
