Best 28-18 aluminum bat ? 2 1/4 ?
.
This is a tough one - actually fairly difficult to find a 28-18 - let alone a good one.
.
I'm not aware of a high-end aluminum 28-18 2 /14 bat. We do have a Easton 'Black Magic' 28-18 - one of the few 28-18 bats I am aware of. We also have a Easton 'Power Cell' 28-20.
.
Both kids often mixed-in/used the 28-18 and 28-20 bats in soft toss and BP drills. In games, both used 28-16 LS TPX Omaha XS Scandium - one of the better 28" aluminum bats available. The 2004 and 2005 models were 16 oz (-12 drop) - the 2003 and 2006 models were 12.5 drop.
.
.
( An old DeMarini Nitro may be another option - at one time they were offerred in -9 drop and possibly -10 )

Thanks for the input, appreciate it. What about the Easton "Typhoon"? Looks like it gets good reviews...and cheap, too. :)

Most bats in that size &weight regardless of brand are cheap standard 7046 or 7050 alloys, they will all hit about the same... typhoon, cyclone, magnum, hammer, reflex, havoc, laser,w arrior, prodigy, etc it really doesn't matter, if its from walmart its all the same quality
high end alloys would be SC500,C500,C555,C405,777,DX-1,diamond flex,SCANDIUM XS alloys....most of these bats were late 90s-2005 models. I still believe these were the best alloy bats produced compared to the ones now! Hard to find but they are out there if you know what you are looking for. Ebay usually has them cheap
You want a good deal on some cheap bats try "Baseball Savings"...Demarini Rogue($20) & Rumble($16) its the same as typhoon but the graphics are better
if you want a high-end alloy try "Bats Unlimited" (discontinued section). I don't know if your league restricts the BPF 1.15 but i think these the older models were 1.20, so u might wanna check first..if not both are great models, solid hits! Both retailed around $150 back in the day
Worth Powerlink $59..... 28/18 C555
Worth Copperhead $54.... 28/17 C405
Athletics Galore (site down right now) usually carries the older model bats pretty cheap but you would have to check the sizes

I have seen a Typhoon - but can not recall the material. It may be constructed of 7050 series alloy ?
.
I did not mention the Rumble and Rogue because (I believe) these may even be a step down from a 7000 series alloy - or maybe 7046 (and not 7050). The recent/current Raven - 11 drop - is constructed of a 7000 series aluminum (possibly 7050) - but not sure if it is available in 28 (is avail in 29 and up). The version of the Easton Black Magic we have is constructed of 7050 alloy.
.
.
Agree with Hookem on the old alloy bats. The mid-2000 LS Slugger Omaha Scandium XS bats were/are great bats. We have at least one of these bats in every size from 28-31 (LL - 2 1/4) - and also a few of them in -8 big barrel and -3 big barrel.
.
Unfortunately, -10 drop LL bats (2 1/4) constructed of a high-end alloy with Scandium, ST-20, etc. are very rare - or non-existant.
.
.
We often mixed in a 28-18 and 28-20 in batting drills (T, Soft Toss, BP in cage) - but the LS TPX Omaha XS Scandium 28-16 was used in the games.
