Hello all, first post here. I would like some input on a new bat for my 8 year old boy. He currently has a 28/17 stealth 2 1/4, and a 29/19 Vexxum. He likes the Vexxum so I want to keep the big barrel for most of his at bats, but I am looking for a new 2 1/4 with a little lighter feel for his league games and when he faces the faster pitchers in tournaments. Thanks in advance.

any combat is going to feel lighter because of the weight balance. eastons run a little end heavy while combats are notorious for running balanced making them easier to swing for kids. they make them in both 27/17 and 28/18 and up

I was leaning towards a Combat after hearing how good they are. How does a b1 or b2 stack up against the new Miken Freak? I have a Freak that I use in my softball leagues, and the bat is insane.

freaks are rare and nice but take a while to break in and if you don't break them in properly they are easy to bust. smaller sweet spot than a combat. b1s are more fragile but seem to have more pop then the b2.

I have a -12 Freak, -12 B2, and -10 B1. The Freak and the B1 are the two favorites on our team. The B2 that we have is just a little too long for our kids so I can't judge it, but it does seem to have plenty of pop. We have kids that smash the ball with both the Freak and B1. The B1 swings easy for a -10 and the Freak has as much pop as you will find in a -12. If you are going with a -10 it is hard to beat the B1 with the large sweet spot and big pop. The Freak has a smaller sweetspot but I haven't seen a -12 that can outperform it when you hit it on the sweetspot. I have yet to see a Techzilla in person, but of the youth bats I have seen the Freak and B1 are at the very top of the list.
