Cracked Stealth?

I have a Stealth, which I'm not sure if it's "cracked" or not. On the barrell it appears that the hard outer shell is chipping away. Doesn't appear to be a crack under this, but the outer shell is chipping. Does this indicate a defect or is this normal for composite bats?

We have an old 28/15 Catalyst (yellow one) that looks like it's been used to hit sharp gravel or something. It is covered in the kind of chips I think you are referring to. Still hits the heck out of the ball though. I gave it to my 8 y/o nephew mid way this season and he was pumped to have the best bat in our coach pitch league.
