I am trying to find out what most wooden bat companies use for finishing?
What Kind of Stains?
What Kind of Sealers?
What kind of finish coats, and how many?
What kind of equipment is used for the larger companies?
Spray Line Systems, Vacum Coaters, Ovens?

I use a can of spray polyurethane. I hang the bat by a wire around the knob, and spray the barrel. Let it dry, then hang it by the barrel and spray the knob end.
I have to experiment with fewer/more coats.

Update:
Since that original post, I have been using Deft Clear Wood Finish, which is lacquer. The final product is absolutely beautiful. I put 2 coats of Deft sanding sealer on first, then 5 coats of the lacquer. After a couple hundred hits, I notice the seal starting to breakdown. I can feel it in the grain of the wood. I'm on my way now to try some spar urethane. It's supposed to stand up to moisture better than poly, and be a bit tougher. I'll update as we go.
