My daughter is 10 years old. She is in her second year of playing fastpitch softball. I am looking for the right sized bat and any suggestions on the best value in a bat for a beginner player. She is very tall for her age - 5'1" and weighs nearly 100 pounds. From what I've read and in speaking with others, I believe I need to be looking for a 32" bat and it should be 32 oz or lighter. Am I calculating this correctly? Any help would be appreciated.

You should probably find a batting cage that lets you demo a few bats. If that is not possible, have someone take a look at her swing. A 32 inch bat is pretty large even if your daughter is a big girl. Have her experiment with all sorts of lengths and weights. You will know once she finds the right bat as her swing will not look labored and she will be consistently hitting the faster pitchers. It just takes time.
My 10 yr old is about 4'10" and weighs about 92 pounds. She is a year round swimmer and is pretty strong. For the past year, she has used a 31" Eaton Stealth -10. I do not know if that helps but it gives you a comparison.
Good Luck!

I agree with Rob...consider the weight of the weight if it is really suited to your child. And as much possible look for the quality of materials before buying :)
