Sanding the Bat Handle?

I just bought a new KR3 bat and I realized from useing it that i would like a thinner handle on it. I am wondering on how i can get it thinner. Should I sand it or scrape it? The bat has no finish on the handle so i dont have to worry about that.

You can sand it, but if you do it by hand, you run the risk of taking it out of round. Though, some ex-player is marketing grips intentionally out of round. Called a V grip. Have never tried one.
