Hi, I'm looking at purchasing one of these bats and would like some help on what the model numbers signify and which would be a better bat for a 17 year who hits in the number 3 hole in the batting order.
Easton 271 pro stix mapple wwod
Easton 72 pro stix mapple wood
Easton 110 pro stix mapple wood

thanks again!

I don't know about Easton wood, but those style numbers are generic:

271 - Flared knob, 15/16" handle, 2 9/16" barrel
72 - Traditional knob, 15/16" handle, 2 1/2 - 2 9/16" barrel
110 - Flared knob, 1" handle, 2 9/16" barrel

It is a matter of preference of which bat is best for your son.

My understanding is that flared knobs put more weight at the bottom of your bat, forcing the batter to keep his hands down on the swing. However, it is a matter of preference.

Guys with bigger hands generally prefer a bigger handle.

The bigger the barrel, the bigger the sweet spot. However, it does make your bat slightly heavier and may slow down your swing.

The argument between maple vs ash is that ash is lighter (faster swing) but not as durable as maple which is heavier and more dense (thus more durable).
