What type of baseball workouts are good? I am going to be a junior this year. Right now i am 5'7 5'8ish and weight 160 pounds. Are there any workouts i should be doing to get ready for the season in the spring? I am planning on going on to play college baseball as well for a junior college team and i am just looking for some things that could help me out. I dont have the money to go buy fancy equipment or anything.

Making it to the higher levels is very difficult with the competition today. The most important thing is to work at it every day. The mind set has to be "what am I doing today to get better?" Take as many swings, ground balls, pop ups, and pitches as you can stand. There is no magic drill or exercise to make it happen. It will take more work than you can imagine with pain, sweat, tears, and a lot of time away from the party scene. You have to make up your mind what it is you want and be willing to go get it. With having said that you don't need a lot of equipment. Your normal baseball equipment for the most part. Your legs are a big part of the game so running stadium steps or sprints up hill will help with power and speed. Push ups and sit ups for the core strength and an open area to do long toss drills for arm strength are about the only things you will need extra. As always, hitting is a major part of what scouts are looking for with non pitchers. If you can, get a partner that is willing to go into the cage with you every day, that would be the best. You don't have to take battting practice at 60.5 ft throwing 90 mph. The best way to work technique is soft toss while concentrating on doing everything correctly. Soft toss is simply getting approx. 20 ft away and under handing or throwing the ball slowly. (be sure to be behind an L screen) Hit the far end of the net with line drives everytime. Good luck and if you have the dedication to work at this every day for the next 2 years you will have a good shot at making a team somewhere.

Get a nice DURABLE metal bat. And always for practice use a woodbat.
