Okay so here's the dilema. I no longer play baseball but I LOVE going to the batting cages to take a few swings. I bought a wooden louisville slugger last month and broke is on my third night at the cages. I know, stupid idea bringing any bat to the cages, but I just love the sound of a ball cracking off a wood bat.

Heres my question: Is there a wooden bat on the market strictly for batting practice? I'm prety sure I've seen one that was wooden but coated with some kind of protectant to make it stronger. If anyone has any information on a bat like this, but more importantly where I can get one, I'd be very thankful.

Try a Mizuno bamboo bat. Very durable, and they have a great sound.

You could also try a thick-handle maple bat. Major leaguers break maple bats because they get them with very thin handles.

until you get better, try a composite bat.

If you want to try bamboo, I would suggest the Brett Bros. Gobon #5. It comes with a 120 day warranty.

DeMarini makes a nice composite. As does Area 51.

Akadema has a new bat out called the SuperBat. It is a composite White Ash bat wrapped with a carbon and glass braided sock. Go to the website www.clubnineonline.com to view the bat. I also have several Amish made wood bats in stock by Akadema.
