I'm new to this website, but have been lurking.

I've seen all the reviews on the Combat B1 (which has not shown up much here in Houston).

Can anyone comment on the comparison in sweet spots between a Combat B1DaBomb 2 1/4" vs other Composites with a 2 3/4" or 2 5/8". ie-Catalyst, Exo, etc.

Here we are not limited to 2 1/4.

My son is 10 and I'm purchasing a bat for him to use as WS approaches, but primarily for 11 yr old Ball. He plays Select (which I think ya'll are calling "travel") Tournament ball.

He's 4:9 75lbs.

Switch Hits very well.

He's currently using a 2 3/4" Steath CNT, but he also has a Demarini Vexxum with a 2 1/4" that he contacts both solidly with.

My question is:
Even though (according to the reviews) the B1 is hot, how does it compare against a bigger barrel composite?

My son is 12 and uses the Combat B1 dabomb 31/21 primarily for rec ball/Cal Ripken League. He absolutely loves that bat! He has always used a "big barrell" bat for his travel ball team because he can I guess. He had been swinging a -8.5 drop Vexxum pretty well but this season switched to a composite CF3 30/22. He has been getting great pop off that bat as well. We are getting ready for Cal Ripken All-Stars- end of the month and are leaving for Cooperstown Dreamspark- week June 19th. He has been swinging the B1 a lot lately. I expect he will pull out his B1 dabomb in Cooperstown for fast pitching but he may even use it more. That bat seems to out-perform the composite big barrels. I personally think he has more pop off it then his CF3. Most of the kids in travel are stuck on swinging big barrel because bigger sweet spot-think easier to hit. Looks like it makes sense but I think combat dabomb out-performs most big barrels. I have seen entire 12U travel teams from Texas and CA swing dabomb with GREAT success. I expect my son will start using his dabomb more for travel ball. Bats are not cheap but you may find that you may need a comfortable big barrel and little barrel. Be careful because bat-buying can become a highly addictive activity but there are some good buys out there.

I don't if I would even compare the 2, unless it's a cheap walmart BB then I say the combat. Most BB have the upper hand because more contact with the ball.

Anderson claims to be better then BB until -5. But I disagree with that. My son would bring out the 2 1/4 in travel now and again just because he had better control ( which is more important then the other stuff IMO)

My 11 year old loves his Combat Virus. He made All-Stars in 11-12 age group and was lead off batter all season. he gets great pop with the Virus and the rest of his team loved it also. He made the 12U USSSA team and I have been wondering if I should even bother buying him a big barrell bat. The 2 or 3 guys that have played travel ball before said the Virus hits as good as any Big Barrell they ever used in Travel league. I might just so he will have it but its an investment for sure....Does combat make a Big Barrell?

No Combat doesn't make a BB in Youth.
I'm considering the Virus, which they do make a Senior 30 /20 in 2 5/8".
(30 /20 is his size)

Anybody understand the diff in Youth vs Senior if they come in same size?
(other than barrel diameter)

Youth is for Little League and BB is for select/usssa/travel play.
