O.K...first off, I am rookie when it comes to buying bats. My son had a cheap rampage bat prior to our purchase of YB84 comp. omaha bat. I visited this same board looking for advice and know that a lot of others do the same so wanted to provide some feedback. My son turned 8 in March and is 4'7, 80 lbs. We went with a 29/17. There was an initial adjustment to the bat but now he is comfortable. He loves the bat and I can tell you that the ball jumps off his bat much better than anyone else on the team. However, I can also tell you that no one else on his team was swinging any of the $100+ bats (it was a spring league and the weather out here can get a little chilly during the spring(Denver, CO)), so it is difficult for me to compare. As for durability, no problems so far. We did leave the bat in the bag during a 50 degree game but other than that he has used it a bunch including the cages. I just picked up a cheap wood bat which he will be swinging during practice so bat will hopefully survive the summer. If it does not, I will provide an update. Oh...and almost forgot...can't beat the price...paid $129 at sports authority.
