I'm considering a few different bats for my son. He looked very comfortable hitting soft toss with all 4...Does anyone have experience with:
Combat Virus (29/17)
Voodoo Composite (29/16)
Voodoo Black (29/16)
Louisville Triton (29/17 or 28/16)
I'm leaning toward the Virus, but the reviews are 50/50.
Thanks.

Have you considered a Combat B1 dabomb? My son has never had the opportunity to swing the Combat Virus but I can't take dabomb out of his hands long enough for him to even try anything else. I have not seen the Triton in little barrel perform but I really think it will take quite a bat to out perform the dabomb. My 12 yr old son has always been a decent hitter but in 2 rec ball games since dabomb arrived a little over a week ago he has hit 2 over, 2 triples and a few doubles. All solid hits-his HR tonight was a line shot. I have never seen a ball pop off a bat the way it does with a Combat. Even "off" hits fly off and are difficult to handle. If Combat makes a B1 dabomb in a size your son can handle I would definately look at it.

I just bought my 11 year old virus 30/20. Great great bat like NC said about the dabomb it has great pop...My son who struggled to get it out the infield early in the season with his 20 dollar demarini from Wal-mart is now hitting the fence and i am just waiting for it to go over. He almost had one thursday night...It was actually a routine fly ball but the pop off the bat carried so high and it kept going and going and landed 5 to 10 feet in front the fence ended up being a triple, he also had 2 doubles...I think both Combats would be good bats as reviews I have read have been good for both...Oh there are 15 players on my sons team and 9 of use his bat...

for the record my son weighs 80 pounds and is 5 ' 4...fairly tall but very skinny....he is very strong though

Thanks for the reports...I spoke to a Combat rep yesterday and he actually recommended the B1 over the Virus (for my son anyway). He said that the smaller kids don't usually have enough power to get the full benefit of what the Virus has to offer. I am now in the process of searching for a B1 for the best price.

He just said that a kid that size (51"/58lbs) was not strong enough to realize the benefit of the double wall of the Virus. It was nice that he didn't just tell me to get the more expensive bat, but actually said we would probably see better results from the (cheaper) B1YB. It got here Friday and it's obvious that the ball carries a lot of speed off the bat, even on ground balls.

I love the combat Dabomb it's by far the best bat he has ever used! Including the Zilla. The Virus is a good bat and might be a little better but haven't used it that much to really know for sure. Some kids don't like DaBomb because you a dead sound of the bat and they think the bat isn't any good and some think if it made a louder sound the ball would have went longer

The Triton I like it, I like the sound ( like a great hit off a wood bat), I like how the ball jumps off it, very nice bat, swings very light, huge hitting area. Over all filled in while his Dabomb was out of service.

If I had to choose today it would be - Dabomb:D, Triton, Virus, LS -H2.

Now's a great time to see how bats are doing, watch the CWS.
