My kids need a bat around 20 or less ounces. They like 31 inch. They are 14 (boy) and 17 (girl). Right now they are swinging a 31" -8.5 senior league bat. They would love to swing a wood bat and have a 30" little league bat (Rawlings), which I would guess is in the low to mid 20 oz range. But the wider barrel (min 2.5 inch) of a baseball bat would be nice. I suppose there are no such light weight bats made. But I can get a Rawlings baseball bat for $20 at Kmart. What if I did that, then cut off a couple inches from the fat end? That would knock off a couple ounces, maybe get it down to 28 oz. Then I could drill out the center of the barrel, maybe 1/2 or 5/8 inch, and plug it. Would that get the weight down enough. Now we are not worried about regulations as we just play around for the fun of it, not on any teams.
