I propose that we all call bat companys and demand swing weights. Basicaly knowing the swing weight will give you an understanding of how balanced/ end loaded a bat is. So if u swing a 32 inch bat and wana buy a new bat, you can get one with the same static weight but swings lighter ( more control ) or heavier ( more distance ).
Relatively baseball and baseball bats are a small market internationally, but big internatonal sports ( golf , tennis ) generate a lot more cash. And both golf and tennis give a swing weight index. Why? because a swing weight tells you how heavy a bat is when you swing it, not when its just sitting there not moving.

I just think this will make us better consumers when we buy and compare bats

I know what you mean and think it is a very good idea. I had trouble going through the transition from -8.5 to -3 since I am a very small kid. It is why I didn't make the varsity team last year. We had this thing during September and October where the team and anyone looking to make the team were divided up and we played each other. I was seeing the ball fine but just couldn't catch up with the heavier bat. I still made the team, and we worked out and I got stronger, but I was never given another opportunity to prove I belonged on varsity. As a consequence I played JV and it was like a joke. I decided to get a new bat, but my problem was that I couldn't really use a 31/28 on varsity because I was to small to reach low and outside, which I needed to be able to do because the crappy umps love to call that. Anyway, I was forced to find someway to swing a 32/29. What I came to find out was that a 32/29 torque felt so much lighter than a 32/29 comp, and felt more like a 31/28. I worked out some more and now I feel I can easily make the varsity team. I think it is EXTREMELY important to know the swing weight and be able to compare them because that matters so much more than whether it is 31/28, 32/29, or anything. It makes all the difference.

I just called Demarini to find the swing wieghts of there bats cuz im looking to buy one. He states Voodoo and Hoolingan have light handles (swings heavy) while the Vexxum, F3, F2 has heavier handles (swings light).
***I also made a comment the Swing weights / center of mass / balance point (they all mean the same thing when we swing) should be readily available to us as consumers****
Please do the same for other manufactures and i'd be great if you post what you did. It would be a great help to people dedicated to baseball.
