Hello all, I am new to the forum. I have a question, my son just moved up to USSSA ball this year, he is 7, I am wanting to get him a new bat since now he can use the big barrel. Any recommendations, he is about 49 inches tall and weighs 51 lbs. any recommendations for a bat, thanks in advance. I was looking at the Miken Burn (08) but have seen some bad things said about it.

I have a 29" Miken Burn ESD -10 red model. Used only once or twice, not even broken in. My son no longer uses it cause he got another bat. It's in mint condition. If your interested let me know, make me an offer, and we can set something up.

Go to baseballcorner.com to look at the bat guide for your son's size. It's still a judgement call because your son might be strong for his age. Anyways, then check out sites like justbats.com, baseballrampage.com., baseballexpress.com., homerunmonkey.com and other sites for deals on bats. Bats I would reccommend are at the high-end, such as Demarini Voodoo, TPX Catalyst, and Easton Stealth Comp. According to the bat guide your son should be swinging about a 28"-29" bat and at about 15-16oz. The Limited Edition Demarini Voodoo would be perfect. It's a -13 drop, so the 28" bat would weigh 15oz. The 29" bat would be 16oz. Right now it goes for $149 at JustBats.com and they have free shipping on bats. By the way, it's an all composite bat, which is better than aluminum. Hope this helps.;)

thanks this does help but do these bats come with 2 3/4" or 2 5/8" barrel or are they the 2 1/4"?

The Limited ED. Voodoo is 2 1/4", which is fine for 7 and 8 yr. olds in my opinion. The bigger barrell bats are endloaded which is ideal for strong kids and kids with good swings.
