I am only in my sophomore year but i am thinking about what college i want to go to. it has to have extremely good academics AND of course good baseball. My first thought was Rice, but I'm also thinking about Duke and Princeton. Obviously Rice has awesome baseball, but how good is Duke really. Chris Capuano went to Duke. The other thing is obviously Princeton has about the top academics in the nation, but i don't know really much at all about their baseball or about Ivy League baseball in general. i know Mark DeRosa went to Dartmouth, but how good are the Ivy League baseball teams? Do you think scouts pay much attention at all to ivy league baseball, or do you think I should go to Duke or Rice if I have any hope of professional baseball?

Alright dude, we know clemson is a good baseball school but that wasnt one of his choices. Rice is a great baseball school, and a middle of the road academic school. But with all the competion will you get noticed? especially in Texas which is a big baseball state. You have to ask yourself do i want to go to a big name school, play on there ball club and risk not being noticed, or go to a school like Duke or Princeton like you said, and be a stand out star and get a contract to play baseball in the future.
Duke is very hard to get if you cant get a baseball scholarship. My sister applied to Duke she was #1 in her class and captain of the cross country team and she didnt get it. And i shouldnt have to tell you how hard it is to get into Princeton. It was ranked hardest college to get into this year. But there baseball teams arent that good so if your a stand out baseball player you might have a shot. Scouts will look at you no matter what college you go to if you good enough, so dont worry about that.

yeah i know. i just wasn't really sure. I mean, since most of ivy league play is against other ivy league schools, the scouts might doubt the numbers and focus more on the top baseball schools, even if I do stand out in ivy league. Oh, and by the way, don't worry about the academic part, the baseball is the only concern. I have absolutely no doubt that I can get a full scholarship to Rice, Duke, Princeton, Harvard, or whatever school I decide to go to, probably even without my baseball talent. Not to brag but seriously I have like a 5.167 GPA and I plan to take about 5 AP courses next year, which would bring my GPA to about 5.833. I could even get a 6.0 If I took all AP courses, but 5 is already a rediculous amount of work, especially since I have baseball yearround. Its almost not fair because all the other really academic kids who take that many AP courses don't do anything but academic things because they are nerds and have no life. lol crap I just wrote a lot of crap about nothing I hope nobody read all of this. whoops.

stfu. hey, if you get a full scholarship to some college for baseball, than thats great for you, but to get into a really good college you need more than baseball. So think about what you said for a little bit, because while I'm paying nothing to go to a great university, while others are paying like $40,000 a year, who is really the loser, because its definitely not me.
P.S. I wish you would tell me your real name so I could laugh when I get drafted before you. That is, if you get drafted.

you think youll get drafter before me. okay i dont think anyones looking for a 5'2 100 pound kid whos a sophmore, i was 5'2 the 6th grade. And i guess me getting this all american talent showcase doesnt mean anything to you, but i highly doubt youll get drafter before me, or even get a baseball scholarship to college. And another thing i dont think you recieved an invitation to this event, and im in the same grade as you and probably the same age. I GOT A FULL BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP TO HIGH SCHOOL,PLAYED VARSITY AS A FRESHMAN,AND BROKE THE RECORD FOR BATTING AVG MY FIRST YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! so if you think youll get drafter ahead of me you need to grow some inches, put on some weight, and get real. AND YOU GOT BANNED FOR CURSEING TO A KID ONLINE!!!! thats so childish, so i think you are a loser

Alright, when i was playing baseball for my 8th grade school team we had our championship game, and the teams were really good. So we had some high school baseball coaches come and check us out, big, private expensive schools. After the game i had a coach come to me, and ask if i was interested in going to the school to play baseball, and i would get a scholarship. He said he would keep in touch to see if i wanted to go. Me and my parents talked it over and we decided to take the offer. The school gave me a full baseball scholarship or half baseball half academic. I didnt want to make it seem like a big thing but maybe i did, and thats my fault so no big deal i had a great game and got lucky some other kids i played with got the same thing as we were just in the right place at the right time.
Yeah a lot of kids play varsity baseball there freshman year, its what you do during the season that counts. Its possibly you could get drafter higher then me you never know

yeah it is pretty funny. hey varsity, have you ever heard of Marcus Giles, or maybe David Eckstein. I bet they were told they were too small from some loser like you. I bet that loser never even got drafted, while 5' 6" David Eckstein became an all star. I am actually 5' 4" and am working out. I know that you are probably really good, and there is no room for me to talk because I have never seen you play. You have never seen me play either, though, so you need to quit being a dick talking about how you are so much bigger than me. Also, to KingofKimberton whatever, I only started this one thread about colleges, so if you are not interested in it than stfu and get off this thread.

Alright relax, take it easy. There are a lot of small players im not saying there arent any. Chone Figgins (Los Angelos Angels) 5'7 Center fielder a 5'7 guy playing the outfield thats amazing, but hes a well known name around. Jimmy Rollins, im sure you know who he plays for, 5'8 the guy has a cannon for an arm. Thats good your working out how much can you bench? or arm curl or shoulder lift, or leg press? And i havent talked about how much taller i was then you i only put it out there.

bench about 115-120, but chest is my weakest part. I can do 35-40 pushups, 30 diamond pushups. My abs are prob. my strongest part. The most i've done is 85 crunches but I can do more. I stop coming up as high at about 75, though. I curl 20 lb. dumbells 15 times in each hand at the same time. I wrist curl a 40-50 lb. bar for my forearms. I'm not sure about leg press because i just add weights to the bar and I don't know weight of bar but I think I press well over 200 but prob. not more than 300. I run a 5.0-5.1 forty. Not really sure because I ran a 5.2 last summer and must have gotten faster. My high school team is going to start working out soon. I think I will also get a pitching machine for my backyard that throws mini wiffle balls about 50 mph (but I can just scoot closer to it so it seems like 80-90 mph. It also throws right and left hand curves and I can work on certain locations, etc. I plan to get a lot bigger, faster, and make my swing more consistent and balanced by next season.

my team is going to start working out 4 or 5 days a week starting next week for two hours. We're going to be doing lifting, running, and other conditioning stuff.

Go ahead guys. Don't stop writing and dreaming. Because you'll probably be draft. But like others, you'll do a couple years in the minors, you'll have knee, shoulder, elbow or back problems. Than, you'll start questionning what you're a going to do. Then, one day, you'll meet the girl of your dreams. She will got pregnant, you'll have to quit school and and 10 years later, you'll probably playing in the MSBL and telling everyone that IF you didn't have a back problem, IF you didn't met a girl, IF.......

SO with the money you save from you full scholorship, you put your babies in a sperm bank and get a vastectomy. I know it sounds painful, but no condoms and at the age the girls are still mostly clean. Once the girls hit the late 20's or 30's then worry where the girls been. Have all the fun you want in college.

Its great that you have everything going for you, as an excellent student, and a stellar baseball player. My advice is to take the most scholarship money that you can get for college rather than take a small amount, and have loans to pay. If what your saying is correct, about school and baseball, you should, and it looks like you are getting offers, and showcase invitationals consistantly. The scouts by know should know who you are, if your word is correct. If you know the right people, they tell others, and word will get around fast.
Just make sure that you like the college you go to, for more than just baseball purposes. You will never know what is going to happen, and if for example, a coach was fired, you got hurt, you have to like where your going to college, because if you don't, your not going to have a good experience, and won't enjoy college. And always remember, have a PLAN B. If baseball doesn't work out for you, make sure that you have something to fall back on. Like I said before, if something sudden were to happen, you would need to have something there for you.
Good Luck.
