I would like to get some help on deciding what bat to purchase mt 12 year old sone. He is 5'5 160 with good bat speed. I have narrowed it down to the following, the Demarini CF3 or the Miken Burn. Last year he swung the TPX composite and cracked both the new and old version. He also swung the Blue Miken and had a good feel for the bat but the sweet spot was way too small. Everything I read leads me between these two bats that I have mentioned. Anybody swinging either of them? From what I read the college buzz is all about the CF3? Please help, League starts in February.

At his size and weight go straight to the CF3. Although I disagree about the small sweet-spot on the blue Miken Burn, the CF3 is hot.

Of course, this is all assuming you're talking about big barrel Senior League Bats. If not, and you need a small barrel bat legal for Little League, Inc. then get the DeMarini F3 (not CF3)

geocar1100 why the f3 instead of the cf3 for a 21/4 barrel? Is there something wrong with the cf3 in the youth version? Thats the bat I am looking at for my 10 yr old. Just curious.

In DUKCALN's particular case I would go with the extra ounce in weight. 5'5" 160 is pretty big to swing a 2 1/4" barrel bat. The CF3 is a great bat - no problems reported to us so far. But the F3 is a power hitter's bat. The magic of a doublewall bat is if you're strong enough to make the inside wall bend. The F3 Doublewall is made for very few players - DUKCALN's sounds like one of them.

For your 10 year old the CF3 is a great bat. It's very well balanced and has a huge sweet spot.

i understand the cf3 is also a double wall but its completly composite, so I guess my question is wouldn't it be better than the F3? Wasn't the cf3 made to replace the f3?:)

From my understanding you can't make a doublewall composite bat. Demarini uses a peice of wax paper between the layers or something I think.

Hardhitter, this is strictly hearsay and not from my experience so take it as you like. A friend of mine took his 10yr old to the batting cage with a Cf3 they borrowed and a Combat virus. In their opinion the performance was equal. Thay decided to go with the Cf3 because Demarini has been around longer. The bats used were virus 30/20 and cf3 30/19.

Most likely it's like bowling balls all are good just a matter of you MFG choice. I hear the CF3 is very nice same with the virus. I guess the differance will be flex handle and stiff handle

My good friend just bought his cousin a miken burn esd for little barrel.
The cousin loves taht bat and the ball just pops right off. This season alone he has hit 4 260 ft shots and a total of 18 homeruns. although i just recently bought myself a miken burn esd for big barrel, havent used it yet but it feels great, if anybody has any sugjections or things about the bat, reply to my threads.
