Yes I am in need of some advise. I have a 8y/o son that is pretty advanced for his age. He is entering his first year or minors. Just wondering if it pays to buy a expensive bat for him or just a normal run of the line budget bat. Most people say I'm crazy for even thinking of buying him perhaps a DeMarini Vexxum bat. They say he will outgrow so fast wont get your moneys worth out of it. He needs like a 29in bat so will i go super lite or what. I just need some advise if anyone has some for me.

i am currently coaching a 9-10 youth baseball team and have many years expierience playing and coaching and still play softball and i can tell you for sure that the bats have come a long way. i have currently purchased a demarini vexuum and tpx catalyst the demarini is a 31" 17.5 oz for the bigger kids and the tpx is a 29" 16oz for the smaller guys. these bats are expensive and sponsors come in handy. the ball comes of both bats really well but it seems like the demarini has a much smaller sweet spot than the tpx. most of my kids prefer the tpx catalyst and not that the bat is gonna make any kid a better hitter but it can but it can put a little more speed on the ball when they do hit and we all know confidence can go a long way and a kid stepping up to the plate with a bat he is confident with can make a difference
