Yes I am in need of some advise. I have a 8y/o son that is pretty advanced for his age. He is entering his first year or minors. Just wondering if it pays to buy a expensive bat for him or just a normal run of the line budget bat. Most people say I'm crazy for even thinking of buying him perhaps a DeMarini Vexxum bat. They say he will outgrow so fast wont get your moneys worth out of it. He needs like a 29in bat so will i go super lite or what. I just need some advise if anyone has some for me.

--------------------------

i am currently coaching a 9-10 youth baseball team and have many years expierience playing and coaching and still play softball and i can tell you for sure that the bats have come a long way. i have currently purchased a demarini vexuum and tpx catalyst the demarini is a 31" 17.5 oz for the bigger kids and the tpx is a 29" 16oz for the smaller guys. these bats are expensive and sponsors come in handy. the ball comes of both bats really well but it seems like the demarini has a much smaller sweet spot than the tpx. most of my kids prefer the tpx catalyst and not that the bat is gonna make any kid a better hitter but it can but it can put a little more speed on the ball when they do hit and we all know confidence can go a long way and a kid stepping up to the plate with a bat he is confident with can make a difference

Get the 2007 blue stealth it is 29 in and 16 oz. so it is super light and its about the same price as a vexxum 179.99 . Dont get the vexxum bc if u dont hit it on the sweet spor ur screwed

Your best bet for a minor league baseball player is actually to get a Zcore its the only single wall bat that performs like a double wall i used it as a little minor leaguer and i hit 5 home runs wich is rare for a minor leaguer.
Check the bat out

My son started in a 1/2 season machine pitch 1/2 season kid pitch little league minor division at 6. That season I purchased him an Easton Z-Core, and many a person thought I was a fool. The greatest advantage though was 3 years ago that bat was one of only a few that the bat to length ratio was light enough for him to swing the bat have confindence going into kid pitch and not develope bad habbits. This past year I purchased a used F2 from someone who thought it was to end loaded for their son to swing , and I quickily agreed with what I saw, so I purchased him the vexxum for his b-day. He was drafted #1 into our major division mostly 10-12y/o and he has complained about the sting of the bat if not hit right on the sweet spot. He started using a Stealth during the 9-10 all-stars and that will probably be my next purchase.

I play High School Ball, and when I played travel at age 8/9 yrs old I used a 30in or a 31 inch. But both bats were a -8. So if I were you I would get anything form a 30 inch to a 31 inch, but preferably a 31 inch, because if you are worried him out growing it. And if you are going to spend some $$$ buy an Easton or TPX bat. I used a Zcore 8-10 yr olds, and they are pretty good, strong bats. Also, THAT aKADEMA BAT, don't waste your time and money on that, that is one of the worst bats made. Akadema...if good at anything... makes ok gloves!

While there are many oppinions regarding the best youth bats around we have used and use most of the top bats out there. Our most recently aquired is the Anderson Techzilla. This bat sounds like you are hitting glass. It has a tick sound when the ball is hit. Its almost like a metalic wood bat sound. This bat is one sick puppy. The ball sales dangerously off the bat. This is a good bat at 32" but it does take a strong swinger to use it to its fullest. Worth made a bat called the EST. This bat, though I believe it is no longer being made, had the best pop. The F2 was/ is a great bat. The F3 can be good with the right kid swinging it. I really like the new Stealth composites that came out. They are awesome also.
