I have recently been practicing swinging my Rawlings wooden baseball
bat indoors at home. I am wondering if there is any danger of my bat
breaking off at the thinnest juncture due to the stress of repeated
swinging? Are wooden bats built to cope with this? Would wood types matter?

Ive never seen a bat break with just repeated use without hitting something. You said it is a rawlings so it is probably ash which is pretty week. Maple is a little more expensive, but it is stronger and better

I agree. It shouldn't break. I assume that it has a 15/16" handle. You should be fine. Just watch out for the lamp.

I don't get where anyone thinks ash is weak. The Rawlings is made of northern ash, which is a very tough, strong wood. Also I have a Rawlings Big Stick, Adirondack Model, and it has a 1" handle.
