Hi,

My son is turning 10 at the end of this month. He has been swinging an 07 TPX Dynasty 30/16.5. He is starting to get the bat around much quicker and is ready to get a more advanced bat. He just started playing comp ball. I see a lot of big barrel bats out there but I'd like to get him a bat that he can also use in Little League. I bought him an 07 Miken burn ESD 31/19 and he cracked the barrel after 3 days of use. I've sent it back for a replacement, however, I was wanting some oppinions on other bats that have some good pop and are more durable. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also, what about end loaded bats? Which bats are end loaded in this range (31/19 or so) ?

Thanks in advance for any advice. :D

If he can swing it go for the 08 Techzilla, the DeMarini F3, or the new Combat Virus. All are double wall bats and he'll see an improvement.

I agree the Techzilla is a great bat but with the end weight some kids have trouble. The F3 solid bat if you hit it well. I just started Miken popping up more and more with baseball. We have gap hitters and a few power hitters. we have an 11 year old that uses 2 different Mikens and can clear any 300' foot fence with big barrel or small barrel. However, the gap hitters dont seem to get the same impact.

my son is 5'2" 130 lbs at 9 years old. He is currently swinging a 30-18 combat b1. Incredible bat. He actually dropped from a 19 oz to an 18 oz. His swing and timing just seems to be much better at 18 oz and he hits the ball much further. Dont get caught up in upping the weight of your son's bat. The best thing to do is try the bats out. IF your son can swing an end loaded bat and be successful then you will be ok. Mechanically a lot of players degress with a bat that is too heavy. They have to constantly alter their mechanics because they are not getting around on the pitch. We see 50 mph + pitching in our league at 9 years old so bat speed is a premium.
