I'm having a hard time deciding between the new Rawlings comp, and the catalyst for my11 year old son. Any comments out there to which bat is better. Please help!!

I have a 32 inch -3 rush comp and it is a really good bat. It has a massive barrell, and that makes it have a huge sweet spot. As far as the catalist, i don't know anything about it. It is made by TPX so it should be pretty good.

I just purchased a TPX Catalyst 30/20 ( 2 1/4" barrel) and it has to be the most evenly weighted bat he has ever swung. My son is 10 and I thought his Easton Stealth Comp LCN4 was a great bat and was swayed into buying him an Anderson, but both of those bats are end loaded the Anderson even more than any other bat. His team just won their Cal Ripken District and 3 kids are swinging his Catalyst as well as my son because they like the feel so much. Hope this helps, the reality is that good mechanics are the most important thing to worry about , but for my son the comfort of this bat and his plate presence have greatly improved with confidence from swinging this bat.

Some of you with older kids swinging these lighter bats are going to wish you didn't. You need to realize light weight makes a average hitter good and a kid with poor mechanics hits good also. The heavier the bat the more they have to learn to hit good shots. BUt if you stick with those light bats then your kid trys out for a high school team and has to jump instantly to a -3 and meet a certain length you'll wish you made em move up. Bat size/weight is a thin line, a sorta pay me now or pay me later concept. Pay now is a lghter bat that slows development and pay me later is a kid who pushes his development and doesnt always hit the homeruns but will make the team. Just my 2 cents.

my son has the anderson pyro -8 and -5 he also has the catlyst -10 there all big barrels 32inch. i do not push him towards using either bat he uses the bat hes comfortable with at the time. i know some people can't afford 3 bats but i got lucking in getting good deals on the bats. my son is also 5ft.8" wt. 165lbs with all 3 bats he has hit 27 homers this year on 250ft. fence. so i believe if hes comfortable it don't matter the wt. or length.
