View Full Version : Toledo bats, any reviews or recommendations?
I'm looking at buying a Toledo Katana Demon for my ten year old. This is advertised as a high quality composite type bat. He has been using an older Easton Tri-Shell composite with good results but looking for a newer bat. I am not familiar with Toledo bats and just looking for some honest reviews or recommendations.
Thanks :)

One of the boys on my team has one and loves it. The ball comes off very well and the bat feels slightly end loaded. The problem is that there is no warranty with them because I believe Toledo is out of business. So far this is not an issue since he has used it all year and it is still in decent shape. They are becoming hard to find but if you can get one I would say buy it. Good quality bat and pretty cheap now.

I bought one Toledo Katana Demon for my 8 year old last spring and he hit well with it so I bought another just in case he shattered the first.
So far these bats have impressed me. Composite over aluminum ... larger sweet spot than some other composites and they do not break. My son just turned 9 and only weighs 56 pounds but is pure muscle (fastest kid in the league). Facing a 42 mph pitching machine he can hit it 175 feet when he gets hold of it (he has good timing and excellent eyesight and has been hitting a pitched ball since he was a 3 yr old). That said ... the bat he is using is 29/17 and he will use it again this year (we just started Fall Ball) and we defintely think it is better than the aluminum only bat he previously had (yet it has a good feel and sound to it when striking the ball).
A lot of the kids in our league use Catalyst and Stealth bats (more expensive). While I think the Catalyst and Stealth bats have a lot of pop ... the kids in our league have found them to be fragile (especially the Catalysts) and sometimes the dads/coaches do not realize the bat has hairline cracks and it becomes a danger when in use. We play in the South but in the spring some of our games have temperatures under 65 degrees F ... and when it is that cold or colder than 65 degrees F, we have Catalyst bats breaking every night with a few sending dangerous inner linings shooting out at the third baseman.
