Can anyone tell me about bamboo bats? Are they heavier than ash? My HS aged son swings a 31/28 or a 32/29 aluminum. What are the advantages of bamboo?

Our Bamboo bats run about -2 to -3.

They are not listed on our website but you can send me a message if you are interested in getting one.

I personnaly use a Mizuno Bamboo bat and I'm totally amazed. This bat hit the ball very hard. The advantage with the mizuno bamboo bat is that you don't have to take care where the stamp is before batting. You can hit the ball anywhere on the bat. Incredible pop. It also provide a cute little TOCK! when you hit the ball. But like wood bats, the sweet spot is small.

I purchased a Brett Bros. Gobon #5 model 271 from www.justwoodbats.com. Great bamboo bat.

I may be a little late but i have been using a bamboo bat for about 9 months. So obviously it has not broken yet. I bought it at baseballtips.com and it is the bamboo dragon. It also seems lighter than maple and is BESR certified.

I heard that many Leagues ban Bamboo because it is considered an form of composite, can anyone confirm this? Are there any MLB players that use Bamboo?

Bamboo grows hollow, so it is cut into strips, glued into a big block, and turned into a bat. It is a composite and is not allowed in Major League Baseball (the MLB bat spec says that a legal bat must be made from one solid round sitck of wood). For most adult men's leagues, composite bats are fine, you'll have to check with your league to know if it is ok. I was going to do bamboo a few years ago, but when my guys tried them out, they stung their hands too much. A few guys I know say that they are great practice bats because of the immediate "feedback" on bad swings.

I bought a BamBooBat, but it just seemed to lack pop compared to my Brett Maple
or my Hoosier WoodForce. (I wondered whether the bat bent on contact...)

They're VERY durable, so for BP it's great. (I did hear of a guy who shattered one at a
tournament.)
